Advanced Connectivity

The VZ-8light

and VZ-8plus

can be connected to a compu-

ter using the USB 2.0 or the LAN

port together with the WolfVision

Connectivity Software or a WIA,

Twain or video capture driver. The

supplied Connectivity 2 Software

allows for saving still images and

videos onto a PC or Mac, cont-

rolling the unit, updating the ﬁrm-

ware, adding annotations, instant

printing of screenshots and even

streaming live images over a net-

work.

USB Device Port / Connectivity Software

The LAN port makes the

Visualizer a part of the internal

computer network and it can be

used for communication over the

Internet, if it is assigned an ofﬁcial

(WAN) IP address. Administrators

can use the LAN port to control,

support and update all of their

units from their local desktop PC.

The VZ-8plus

offers unicast and

multicast streaming of live images

directly from the Visualizer (wit-

hout a connected PC) in popular

streaming modes like H.264.

A wide range of connectivity op-

tions ensures that effective exter-

nal controlling is possible. USB,

LAN and infrared connections

can be used to control the VZ-8

Series Visualizers from external

devices, such as a room con-

trol system, a videoconferenci-

ng system or a computer. When

connected to a WLAN router, the

VZ-8light

and VZ-8plus

4

can also

be controlled using WolfVision‘s

smartphone apps for iPod/iPho-

ne/iPad and Android. The big ad-

vantage of this is the Live Image

Preview display function.

External Controlling

Nine images can be stored in the

internal memory of the VZ-8plus

4

and recalled instantly by pressing

one of the numerical keys on the

infrared remote control. The USB

host port can be used for con-

necting USB sticks and other

”passive” USB devices. USB

sticks can be used as an exten-

sion of the image memory and for

uploading and downloading ima-

ges. These memory features are

also available on the VZ-8light

4

with ‘Feature Pack‘.

Internal and External Image Memory / USB Host Port

The Ethernet / LAN port of the

VZ-8 Series Visualizers includes

Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+)

functionality. They are compatib-

le with devices meeting the IEEE

802.3at industry standard. Power

over Ethernet is a popular way of

saving on cables and installation

costs.
